Ready, Set, Write

Whether you want to write a business proposal or a short story, sometimes just getting started is the hardest part of writing. It's not that you don't have ideas; you just don't know how to get them down on paper or screen.

Ready, Set, Write covers forty-one strategies to get you started writing, past the roadblocks of a blank page or an empty screen, and on to the finished product. You'll spend five weeks practicing the strategies and observing how your writing process changes as a result. Each week you'll choose four different strategies to use to spark the creative process as well as in-depth work with some new (perhaps) tools. You'll come to the telesession and discuss your experiences with your classmates. By the end of Ready, Set, Write, you will better understand strategies for getting a strong start in your writing where previously you would have been stalled.

The latest episode of American Idol

Grocery shopping (which, by the way, you hate)

Lawn work

Calling your mother

What are the well-intentioned untruths you tell yourself and the activities you participate in that allow you to dodge what you really want to do, to write?
