Why do you write?
- Is it to connect with people?
- Is it to convey your message to a wide audience?
- Is it establish yourself as an expert?
- Is it to create books and resulting products
as a product arm of your business?
- Is it because you need to write?
Whatever the reason you write, if you don't write with power and
clarity, your writing won't do any of the things you want it to
do. If your writing is flat, boring, lacking in personality, unclear,
confusing, vague, you can forget all about connection, conveying
your message, being seen as an expert, successfully writing books
and creating products, or satisfactorily filling that need to write.
To be effective as a writer, you must convey your message clearly
and with impact.
So many people rush through the process and don't spend the time
and attention on the big things like purpose, audience, and message.
And they certainly don't take the time to polish their writing -
and their message - that will grab their readers.
I'm passionate about writing and words, but even more so about
connecting. That's why I write - to connect with others - to
convey my message to another human - to see myself not as an isolated
being, but part of a greater whole.
That sounds pretty far-reaching for just writing, huh? But I don't
think so. This is what I do in all my classes and in my writing
coaching. I help people bring out their passion and authentic voice
to better get their message across. And it works.
And that's what I'm so jazzed myself about sharing with you what
I've learned and what I practice myself as a writer.
In my newest FREE teleclass, How to Convey Your Message with
Power and Passion - 10 Writing Techniques to Jazz Up Your Writing,
I'll talk about
- stumbling blocks writers face
- what writers need to pay attention to
- and those 10 writing techniques with examples
After the class, you'll leave with techniques and strategies (along
with examples!) that you may have never considered in your own writing.
You'll view the world with your writer's filter - analyzing much
of what you come into contact with (even beyond the written word)
as helpful (or not!) in writing. As a bonus for attending the class,
you'll also receive The Nifty Guide for Writers Checklist that you
can apply to any writing project.
More importantly, you'll be working on your role as a writer. Whether
you're a beginner, advanced, or expert writer, you need to work
on the business of writing, not just in the writing (to paraphrase
from one of my favorite business books, The E-myth Revisited
by Michael Gerber).
